Pentecost envelopes in the Sacristy, can you please collect and distribute during the coming week.  This collection is for the salary, of the Priests of the Parish.

Safeguarding Training– this is required for all volunteers involved within the Parish.  This training will be held in the hall of Colaiste Mhuire secondary school, Ballygar on Monday 20th at 7pm.  It is vital that you attend.

  • The Famine Priest – All are welcome to a talk about Fr Edward Wallace PP “The Famine Priest”, given by Mr Jarlath McNamara on Friday 17th May at 8pm in the Community Centre, Lecarrow F42 CK11.
  • Seniorline Would like someone to talk to?  SeniorLine is Ireland’s national telephone service for older people open every day of the year 10am-10pm, Freephone 1800 80 45 91. Callers may feel isolated, alone, wish to discuss a problem in confidence, or for company during their day.   • Volunteer for Hospice Roscommon Hospice is looking for volunteers to help with National Sunflower days for Hospice on Friday 7th & Saturday 8th June at local outlets or another area if suits.   • ELPHIN DIOCESAN PILGRIMAGE TO LOURDES – ASSISTED PILGRIM SECTION – The Diocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes will take place from 30th August, 2024 to the 4th September, 2024 inclusive, under the leadership of Bishop Kevin Doran. Pilgrimage Highlights includes Mass at the Grotto, Torchlight and Blessed Sacrament Processions, Anointing of the Sick, Water Ceremony.  Flights ex Knock Airport.  The Pilgrimage includes the Assisted Pilgrim Section.  Those who travel as part of the Assisted Pilgrim Section will stay in Accueil Notre Dame, which is situated beside the Grotto and Sanctuary area.  They will be cared for by the Elphin Diocesan Pilgrimage Care Team whilst in Lourdes.  Application forms for the Assisted Pilgrim Section and full details are available from Very Rev.   • Solas FRC Ballygar in partnership with Ballygar Mental Health Awareness & Promotion are hosting an event as part of Mental Health Irelands ‘Hello How Are You’ Campaign.  All are welcome on the evening of Wednesday 15th May @7pm in the Mattie Mc Donagh Centre, Ballygar, (F42 V211) for an evening with speakers and light refreshments.  For further information, contact Bernie (085 2521200) or Louise (0877437443).
  • Meeting sponsored by Family and Life, focusing on the dangers of Social, Personal, Health Education programme being introduced into schools by the Department of Education will be held in Hannons Hotel, Roscommon on Tuesday 14th May at 8pm.
  • NBT Community Games will hold their Athletics day on Sunday 12th May at 12 O Clock in the Niall Walsh pitch. A variety of running races will go ahead for Under 8, Under 10, Under 12 and Under 14.  Check out our NBT Community Games Facebook page for more information.

  • Mountbellew No Name Club will host its annual church gate collection on Saturday 11th, and Sunday 12th May. No Name Clubs are youth clubs run by, and for young people aged 15-18 years, and empower young members to organise and enjoy positive alternatives to alcohol and drug-centred activities. Please support.
  • Ballygar Tidy Towns AGM – The Annual General Meeting of Ballygar Tidy Towms will take place on Saturday, May 25th at 8:15pm in the courthouse. All are welcome to attend.
  • KEPAK SHEARFEST 2024 – Mountbellew will host the All Ireland and All Nations Sheep Shearing Championships on Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd of the June Bank Holiday weekend.   • Killyan Graveyard – The funds raised by the NAC 50/50 Draw in the month of May will go towards the maintenance of Killyan Graveyard.  The annual Killyan Graveyard Mass will take place on Sunday, 18th August.  The funds raised will also allow the hiring of a marquee and sound system to cater for the very large crowd expected to attend as usual.  Your support for the Draw would be very much appreciated.  Thank you for helping us to keep KGY in good condition and a fitting resting place for our departed loved ones.
  • Newbridge Action Committee 50/50 draw –Congratulations to this week’s winner Bernie Mockler Woodbrook on winning €480.  Next week’s draw will be in Henry’s Mountbellew.  Thanks to everyone for their continued support every week, 6 months and yearly envelopes available from committee members.
  • Ballygar Tidy Towns & St. Brendan’s Ladies 50/50 – Congratulations to Michael Nolan, Tully, Ballygar who won €580 in this week’s St Brendan’s Ladies Football Club & Ballygar Tidy Towns Lotto.
