• Elphin diocese’s Adult Faith Formation – Over coming weeks a number of parishes throughout the diocese will host a short in-person course entitled ‘Reading and Praying with St. Paul’. More details available @ www.elphindiocese.ie/st-paul. It’s a lovely course and I believe all who opt for it will find it very engaging, life-giving and enjoyable.
• Colaiste Mhuire Ballygar –are running a PLC morning course in Healthcare Support and Special Needs Assisting beginning in mid September. Information on the course is available by contacting the school at 090-662-4740 or on the school website www.colaistemhuire.org.
• Mountellew Active Retirement Meeting – The monthly meeting of Mountbellew and District Active Retirement will be held in the Pastoral Centre Mountbellew on Monday 3rd October at 8pm. New members always welcome.

• Newbridge Ladies Club: – Meeting on Tuesday night October 4th, at 9.30 pm in Newbridge Hall. In order for the club to continue new members are needed and a new committee to be set up. All ladies welcome.
• Free SafeTALK training happening on World Mental Health day (Oct 10th) in Mountbellew Pastoral Centre 7pm-10:30pm. SafeTALK (Suicide Alertness for Everyone) is an internationally recognised half-day training programme that prepares participants to recognise and engage with people who may be having thoughts of suicide and to connect them to suicide first aid resources. • Rural Social Scheme – The Rural Social Scheme (RSS), which provides supplementary income support for farmers in receipt of social welfare payments in return for part-time employment in their community, is now open for applications. Brendan Dunning who served as curate in Caltra for a number of years and who died during Covid. The chief celebrant will be Fr. John Mahony PP Ahascragh/Caltra   and a Representative of S.M.A order of which Fr Dunning was a member, will deliver the Homily .Members of Fr Dunning’s family will attend. All are welcome.
  • Additional Tús Places – There are currently vacancies in a variety of Tús roles in the local area. Tús is a community work placement for those 12 months or more unemployed and in receipt of Jobseeker’s Allowance, with participants receiving a top-up payment.   • BNT Playground Committee –  wish to say a big Thank You to all who donated items and to all who supported their Bric a Brac Stall on Fair day. €700 was raised which will help cover costs of maintenance and repairs in the Playground.

This month fund going to installing a defibrillator in the village of Newbridge.  So there will be 2 defibrillators in the parish -one at Shiven Rovers servicing Killyan Sportsfield, Shiven Rovers and nearby area and one in the village of Newbridge.
