Mass of Remembrance for Pope Francis – The parish will celebrate a Mass of Remembrance for Pope Francis on this Sunday, May 4th at 10:30am in St Marys Church Ballygar. All are welcome to attend.

- ELPHIN AND ACHONRY DIOCESAN – Training for Volunteers – this training is for volunteers working with children in the diocese, this includes those acting as supervisors of Altar Services, Sacristans, Choir Leaders, Liturgy Group Leaders, Children’s Pray Group Leaders, Eucharistic Ministers who are delivering to Communion to homes or who assist as Supervisors of Altar Servers, etc. If you are unsure whether this training is relevant to your situation please give me a call. I realise that many volunteers have had training previously, but the requirement is the volunteers are re-trained and re-vetted every 3 years. MONDAY 19TH MAY, 2025 IN THE ABBEY HOTEL AT 7PM.
- ELPHIN AND ACHONRY DIOCESAN PILGRIMAGE TO LOURDES – ASSISTED PILGRIM SECTION – The Diocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes will take place from 29th August, 2025 to the 3rd September, 2025 inclusive, under the leadership of Bishop Kevin Doran. Pilgrimage Highlights includes Mass at the Grotto, Torchlight and Blessed Sacrament Processions, Anointing of the Sick, Water Ceremony. Flights ex Knock Airport. The Pilgrimage includes the Assisted Pilgrim Section. Those who travel as part of the Assisted Pilgrim Section will stay in Accueil Notre Dame, which is situated near the Grotto and Sanctuary area. They will be cared for by the Diocesan Pilgrimage Care Team whilst in Lourdes. Application forms for the Assisted Pilgrim Section and full details are available from Very Rev. - Young Adult Pilgrimage to Italy– There are 2 places remaining on our Young Adult Pilgrimage to Italy 29 July – 8 August 2025 with Bishop Kevin Doran. The pilgrimage is open to 18 – 35year olds. The cost is €995 per person sharing and this includes flights, coach transfers, accommodation, Youth Jubilee with Pope Francis in Rome, 3 days on the St Columbanus Camino in northern Italy and day trip to Milan. - A public Rosary in honour of Our Lady of Fatima for World Peace will be held at 4pm in front of St.Mary’s Church, Ballygar. All welcome.
- “A spring clean of the Toghergar Church grounds will take place on bank holiday Monday the 5th May from 11am to 1pm. If you can spare a hour all help is apricated.”
- Easter Garden in Ballygar Church – All are welcome to bring fresh flowers to the Easter Garden to the left of the sanctuary in Ballygar Church. The garden will remain in place until after Pentecost. Vases of water will be provided.
- AGM of Ballygar and Districts Company Ltd – Monday 5th May – The Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Ballygar and Districts Company Ltd, which oversees the running of the Mattie McDonagh Centre and the Niall Walsh pitch, will be held in the Mattie McDonagh Centre on Monday, 5th May, at 9 pm. Your attendance at the meeting would be greatly appreciated.
- Newbridge Ladies Club meeting in Newbridge Hall on Tuesday 6th. May at 8.30p.m. Eucharia McDonagh will do a demonstration on felting and cross stitch. All are welcome.

- Launch of the European & Connacht Sheep Shearing and Wool Handling Championships 2025 – Will take place on Friday the 9th of May in the Malt House, Mountbellew at 8pm. All are invited. Admission is free. Food and refreshments will be served. Entertainment will be provided by local musicians.
