Mass of Remembrance for Pope Francis – The parish will celebrate a Mass of Remembrance for Pope Francis on Sunday, May 4th at 10:30am in St Marys Church Ballygar. All are welcome to attend.

  • ELPHIN AND ACHONRY DIOCESAN PILGRIMAGE TO LOURDES – ASSISTED PILGRIM SECTION – The Diocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes will take place from 29th August, 2025 to the 3rd September, 2025 inclusive, under the leadership of Bishop Kevin Doran. Pilgrimage Highlights includes Mass at the Grotto, Torchlight and Blessed Sacrament Processions, Anointing of the Sick, Water Ceremony.  Flights ex Knock Airport. The Pilgrimage includes the Assisted Pilgrim Section.  Those who travel as part of the Assisted Pilgrim Section will stay in Accueil Notre Dame, which is situated near the Grotto and Sanctuary area.  They will be cared for by the Diocesan Pilgrimage Care Team whilst in Lourdes.  Application forms for the Assisted Pilgrim Section and full details are available from Very Rev. Ray Milton, P.P., Pilgrimage Director, St. John’s, Lecarrow, Co. Roscommon.   (Telephone – 090 6661115).  Closing date for receipt of completed Application Forms is Friday, 16th June 2025.   • Young Adult Pilgrimage to Italy– There are five places remaining on our Young Adult Pilgrimage to Italy 29 July – 8 August 2025 with Bishop Kevin Doran. The pilgrimage is open to 18 – 35year olds. The cost is €995 per person sharing and this includes flights, coach transfers, accommodation, Youth Jubilee with Pope Francis in Rome, 3 days on the St Columbanus Camino in northern Italy and day trip to Milan. All the details and how to book are available at www.achonrydiocese.org and www.elphindiocese.ie  This is an inter-diocesan pilgrimage for young adults living in the dioceses of Achonry and Elphin; Galway and Clonfert.

  • CROI MOBILE UNIT:  Solas FRC Ballygar are delighted to announce that the Croi Mobile unit is coming to Ballygar Church Car park, Thursday May 1st 10.30am – 2pm.  Please note: The Courthouse will open during these hours with tea/coffee and light refreshments available.

  • NEWBRIDGE AC – Would like to sincerely thank everyone for completing their couch to 5km  walking , jogging or running . It was a wonderful community event . Huge thanks to our inspiring mentor Sadie . We will continue meeting every Monday and Friday evening at 7.30 pm to maintain our fitness and have our chats along the way .   • Ballygar Tidy Towns AGM 2025 – The Annual General Meeting of Ballygar Tidy Towns will take place on Saturday, May 3rd at 8:30pm in the courthouse, Ballygar. Your support would be greatly appreciated.
  • Ballygar Tidy Towns – Come join the Ballygar Tidy Towns volunteers for the summer season!  WHEN? Every Saturday morning – 11am. WHERE? Ballygar Garda Station.  Gloves, litter pickers, tools and high visibility jackets will be provided.  Your support would be greatly appreciated.
  • Launch of the European & Connacht Sheep Shearing and Wool Handling Championships 2025 – Will take place on Friday the 9 th of May in the Malt House, Mountbellew at 8pm. All are invited. Admission is free. Food and refreshments will be served. Entertainment will be provided by local musicians.
