  • Training for Volunteers – this training is for volunteers working with children in the diocese, this includes those acting as supervisors of Altar Services, Sacristans, Choir Leaders, Liturgy Group Leaders, Children’s Pray Group Leaders, Eucharistic Ministers who are delivering to Communion to homes or who assist as Supervisors of Altar Servers, etc.  If you are unsure whether this training is relevant to your situation please give me a call.  I realise that many volunteers have had training previously, but the requirement is the volunteers are re-trained and re-vetted every 3 years.  MONDAY 19TH MAY, 2025 IN THE ABBEY HOTEL AT 7PM.
  • The Diocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes will take place from 29th August, 2025 to the 3rd September, 2025 inclusive, under the leadership of Bishop Kevin Doran. Pilgrimage Highlights includes Mass at the Grotto, Torchlight and Blessed Sacrament Processions, Anointing of the Sick, Water Ceremony.  Flights ex Knock Airport. The Pilgrimage includes the Assisted Pilgrim Section.  Those who travel as part of the Assisted Pilgrim Section will stay in Accueil Notre Dame, which is situated near the Grotto and Sanctuary area.  They will be cared for by the Diocesan Pilgrimage Care Team whilst in Lourdes.  Application forms for the Assisted Pilgrim Section and full details are available from Very Rev.   • – There are 2 places remaining on our Young Adult Pilgrimage to Italy 29 July – 8 August 2025 with Bishop Kevin Doran. The pilgrimage is open to 18 – 35year olds. The cost is €995 per person sharing and this includes flights, coach transfers, accommodation, Youth Jubilee with Pope Francis in Rome, 3 days on the St Columbanus Camino in northern Italy and day trip to Milan. All the details and how to book are available at www.achonrydiocese.org and www.elphindiocese.ie  This is an inter-diocesan pilgrimage for young adults living in the dioceses of Achonry and Elphin; Galway and Clonfert.
  • SeniorLine, Ireland’s national telephone service for older people, will be open every day this summer from 10am-10pm, freephone 1800 80 45 91.  Your call will be answered by another older person who will listen, keep you company, discuss a problem and support you towards a resolution if possible. 
  • Therese – As part of the centenary celebrations of St Therese of Lisieux’s canonisation, there will be a special afternoon on Saturday, 17th May from 2.30pm – 5pm at Avila Carmelite Centre, Bloomfield Avenue, Morehampton Road, Donnybrook, Dublin 4, D04 YF66.  The afternoon will include veneration of the relics of St Therese and her parents, St Louis and St Zelie Martin. There will also be a unique exhibition of historical items from the life of St Therese and the Martin Family. Entry is free.

Admission: €15. With Special Guests: Daren Lane & Méli Mélo (coming from Chateaubriant, France). We hope you will join us for a wonderful evening full of music.
  • – All are welcome to bring fresh flowers to the Easter Garden to the left of the sanctuary in Ballygar Church. The garden will remain in place until after Pentecost. Vases of water will be provided. 
  • community walk, jog or run will continue during summer on Monday and Friday evening at 7.30pm. Never too late to join every one welcome.
  • – Dunmore Community Council Bingo will take place on Sunday May 11th in the Town Hall, Dunmore at 3pm.  Lots of prizes on the day including a €500 jackpot.  Draw for a free double book, single book, lucky line sheet and Jackpot sheet.  Complimentary tea, coffee, and biscuits will be served at the interval.  All are welcome.
