- Diocese of Elphin Jubilee of Marriages – Inviting all couples celebrating the Anniversary of their marriage, especially those marking their Silver, Ruby, Golden and Diamond Anniversaries. On Sunday 15th October at 2.30pm in St Mary’s Church, Ballygar there will be Mass followed by light refreshments for all in attendance. Each couple celebrating an Anniversary will receive a certificate from Bishop Kevin, they are invited to register their details at www.elphindiocese.ie/jubilee2023
- Youth Pilgrimages – Throughout the month of August, young people from our diocese will be on pilgrimage with Bishop Kevin to World Youth Day in Lisbon (31st July – 8th August) and Lourdes (23rd – 28th August). Please keep them and all who travel with them in your prayers.
- Lourdes Invalid Fund – would like to thank the parishioners of Ballygar, Newbridge and Toghergar for their generosity on their recent church gate collections. Also a huge thank you to the collectors at all masses. Totals were: – Ballygar €432.50, Newbridge €225.20, Tohergar €115.80
- Ballygar Cemetery – Ballygar Cemetery-Mass will be celebrated in Ballygar Cemetery on Sunday 13th August at 10.30am, weather permitting. In preparation for this there will be a general clean up on Saturday 29th July from 11am. Anyone tending to their relative’s graves, could you please tend to adjoining graves which may need attention. Your help would be greatly appreciated.
- Killyan Graveyard Annual Mass – will be celebrated at the graveyard on Sunday, 30th July, at 11.30 a.m. In the weeks beforehand, when you are tending the graves of your loved ones, please consider giving a little of your time to tidy the section of path/area nearby and the grave(s) which no longer have anyone left to tend to them. Thank you.
- MOUNTBELLEW VINTAGE SHOW – Owing to the recent adverse weather conditions Mountbellew Vintage Show which was due to take place on Sunday 30th July has been postponed until further notice.
- BALLINAMORE BRIDGE HERITAGE GROUP – are holding a fundraising draw on 25th August 2023 in Hughes Bar, Ballinamore Bridge. This is to erect a memorial for 4 boys who tragically drown in the river Shiven in 1904. Tickets available in Hughes Bar and usual local outlets. All support greatly appreciated. Lots of prizes on the night.

- Newbridge Action Committee 50/50 draw – Congratulations to this week’s winner of the Newbridge Action Committee 50/50 draw Paul& Coliosa Wallace Killyan on winning €518. Next week’s draw in Breslins Ballygar. Thanks to everyone for their continued support every week, 6 months and yearly envelopes available from committee members.
- Ballygar Tidy Towns & St. Brendan’s Ladies 50/50 10th Year Anniversary – Congratulations Becky McPhilbin, Creggs who won €552 in this week’s St Brendan’s Ladies Football Club & Ballygar Tidy Towns Lotto. - Coláiste Mhuire, Ballygar – 75th Anniversary Mass: This will take place on Fri. 8th Sept. 2023 at 11.30a.m. in St Mary’s Church, Ballygar. I would be delighted to welcome back former choir members to perform with us on that day if you are available.
