Wishing the Ballygar Carnival Committee, who celebrate their 82nd Carnival, a spectacular bank holiday weekend.

  • Cemetery Sunday, St Marys Church, Ballygar – On Sunday, August 9th, 10:30am Mass will be celebrated in Ballygar cemetery. There will be a major cleanup in the cemetery on Saturday, July 25th and again on Saturday August 8th. Your support would be greatly appreciated. 
  • Jubilee of Marriages – Couples celebrating their Silver, Ruby, Golden, Diamond, Platinum or other wedding anniversaries are invited to attend one of two Jubilee Masses, along with their families and friends on either Sunday 4th October at 2.30pm in Ballaghaderreen Cathedral or Sunday11th October at 2.30pm in Kiltoom Church. Bishop Kevin will celebrate both Masses. Light refreshments will be served afterwards for all in attendance. As each couple celebrating an Anniversary will receive a certificate from Bishop Kevin, they are asked to register their details at www.achonryelphin.ie    
  • National Novena to Our Lady of Knock: 13th – 21st August – Since 1977, the National Novena to Our Lady of Knock has taken place at Knock Shrine, welcoming pilgrims from across Ireland and abroad to gather in prayer and reflection. This year’s theme, “Sheltered in God’s Love,” marks the 50th anniversary of the opening of Knock Basilica. For further information on each day’s programme: www.knockshrine.ie
  • Achonry & Elphin Diocesan Pilgrimage to Knock – The Achonry & Elphin Diocesan Pilgrimage to Knock Shrine takes place on Sunday, 16th August 2026. There will also be a Family Day on the same date offering various activities for families with children of all ages. The dioceses extend a special invitation to altar servers and their families to join the pilgrimage.
  • Retreats at Knock Shrine – Knock Shrine is now offering the opportunity for personal, self-directed retreat stays in the simple and peaceful surroundings of the Retreat Village.   • Killyan Graveyard Mass Cleanup to prepare for annual Mass 30th & 31st July, 7th & 8th of August at 7pm. Please bring spades, sweepers and garden tools. We appreciate the communities help. Graveyard Mass will be on Sunday 16th August. NAC 50/50 will support Killyan Graveyard for July please support.
  • Courthouse Cafe… Enjoy a relaxed, comfortable friendly atmosphere at the Courthouse Cafe. Join us for homemade soup, brown bread, scones, cakes and freshly brewed tea and coffee served by local volunteers. Opening Times Monday to Friday 10am to 2pm; Saturday: 10am to 1pm. 
  • Newbridge Action Committee 50/50 draw – Congratulations to Sinead Lohan, Ella, Jack & Eva Mc on winning €589 in this week’s 50/50. The month of July will be for Killyan Graveyard. Thank you for your continued support.
  • Ballygar Tidy Towns & St. Brendan’s Ladies 50/50 – Congratulations to this week’s winners of the Ballygar Tidy Towns & St Brendan’s LFC lotto, Eamon & Mairead Burke, Tully who won €619.
