  • Assisted pilgrims – Lourdes Pilgrimage, 28th August – 2nd September: Parishioners, there are 2 places available for anyone who would like to participate as an assisted pilgrim for the forthcoming Diocesan pilgrimage to Lourdes. The pilgrimage includes the Assisted Pilgrim Section, with 35 assisted pilgrims selected from across the diocese. Any individuals with medical conditions or mobility limitations are eligible to apply. Application forms and further information are available from Very Rev. Ray Milton, P.P., Pilgrimage Director, (090-6661115). Completed applications for consideration should be submitted by 11th June.
    • Youth section – Lourdes Pilgrimage, 28th August – 2nd September: Are you aged 17 – 20 years? Would you like to participate? If so, the parish will support one or two youths to participate on behalf of the parish. The parish will contribute partially towards same, with fund raising events organised by participant to cover the remaining cost. If you are interested, please contact Fr Douglas, by Friday 8th May for further information and on the nomination process.   
    • The first 5 Saturday Devotions will continue on Saturday 2nd May, 2026 in St. Mary’s Church, Ballygar beginning with Rosary at 7pm.
    • BNT Meals on Wheels – AGM on Thursday 7th May at 8.30pm in the Mattie Mc Donagh Centre.  All Welcome.
    • Ballygar Autism Friendly Town – Public Information Meeting*8pm Thursday 14th May  Mattie McDonagh Centre F42 V211.   Ballygar Regeneration in partnership with AsIAm are hosting an important community event focused on building a more inclusive and supportive environment for autistic people and their families. Whether you’re a parent, family member, professional, or simply someone who wants to support a more inclusive community – we warmly invite you to come along.
  • Ballygar Ladies Club in conjunction with Rachel, from Breast Cancer Ireland and 19 years a cancer survivor herself, are hosting a talk and demonstration on early detection for breast cancer in The Courthouse, Ballygar on Thursday next, 7th May at 8pm. This event is open to all ladies.  Please encourage your family and friends to come along. Admission €5.
  • Ballygar Tidy Towns…. We have been shortlisted for the Cathaoirleach Awards 2026 under the Environment & Climate Action category. The Awards highlight individuals & groups who make a significant impact on community life with specific emphasis on projects that contribute to the social, cultural, and environmental landscape of Co. Galway. The ceremony takes place in The Raheen Woods Hotel, Athenry, Friday 8th May. Thanks to everyone who has contributed towards this recognition. 
  • Courthouse Cafe… Enjoy a relaxed, comfortable friendly atmosphere at the Courthouse Cafe. Join us for homemade soup, brown bread, scones, cakes and freshly brewed tea and coffee served by local volunteers. Opening Times Monday to Friday 10am to 2pm; Saturday: 10am to 1pm. 
  • Ballinamore Bridge Heritage Group cordially invite you to join us at Trihill Bridge for the unveiling of a plaque in memory of Dean Crowe, Malachy Geraghty and Lawerance J Logan (Lohan) on the 24th of May at 2.30 followed by light refreshments.

    • Easter Garden in Ballygar Church – Parishioners are welcome to bring fresh flowers to the Easter Garden in Ballygar church. Vases of water are provided.
    • Meeting of Mountbellew Active Retirement Association will take place on Monday night the 4th May at 8 p.m. in the Pastrol Centre, Mountbellew.  New members welcome.
    • Mountbellew Darkness into light 2026 takes place on Sat 9th May at 4.15 am, leaving the Pastoral Centre Mountbellew. Registrations can be done online on www.darknessintolight.ie  but you can pay on the morning- cash only. Refreshments will be served afterwards in the Pastoral centre.  Please support this worthy cause.
    • Raffle of Harley Davidson Motorbike 883 Sportster in aid of Galway Hospice Foundation in memory of Assumpta Creaven nee Lydon Annagh, Ballymacward.   Motorbike can be viewed in TK Car Sales, Carnmore. Draw will take place at Yeats Lodge, Peterswell on Saturday May 9th with music and refreshments on the night.   All welcome.  Tickets €10 can be bought online before May 2nd @ www.idonate.ie/raffle/harleydavidson or locally from friends and family. Your support would be greatly appreciated.
  • Newbridge Annual Village Clean-Up will be held over the May Bank Holiday weekend.  Bags and Gloves will be distributed after 11.30 mass on Sunday, the 26th of April.  A Skip for the collection of rubbish will be in the Shiven Inn Car Park. Thanks to everyone for their continued support. 
  • Newbridge Action Committee 50/50 draw – Congratulations to Windfield NS Staff who won €467 in this week’s 50/50.  Thank you for your continued support.
  • Ballygar Tidy Towns & St. Brendan’s Ladies 50/50 – Congratulations to this week’s winner of the Ballygar Tidy Towns & St Brendan’s LFC lotto Margaret Kelly, Ballinamore Bridge who won €571.  Thanks to all who are supporting the draw and all the businesses who are selling the tickets. Next week’s draw is in Martins Saturday 2nd May.
