  • Cemetery Sunday, St Marys Church, Ballygar – On Sunday, August 9th 10:30am Mass will be celebrated in Ballygar cemetery. There will be a major clean-up in the cemetery on Saturday, July 25th and again on Saturday August 8th. Your support would be greatly appreciated. 
  • August & September: Lough Derg, Co. Donegal – There are a variety of pilgrimages and retreats taking place in August and September at Lough Derg with accommodation now available the night before beginning a retreat or pilgrimage.  As well as the traditional three-day pilgrimage of prayer, fasting and keeping vigil which continues each day until 13th August, there are also one day retreats, including some special themed retreats – advance booking essential.   • Jubilee of Marriages – Couples celebrating their Silver, Ruby, Golden, Diamond, Platinum or other wedding anniversaries are invited to attend one of two Jubilee Masses, along with their families and friends on either Sunday 4th October at 2.30pm in Ballaghaderreen Cathedral or Sunday 11th October at 2.30pm in Kiltoom Church. Bishop Kevin will celebrate both Masses. Light refreshments will be served afterwards for all in attendance. As each couple celebrating an Anniversary will receive a certificate from Bishop Kevin, they are asked to register their details at www.achonryelphin.ie    
  • National Novena to Our Lady of Knock: 13th – 21st August – Since 1977, the National Novena to Our Lady of Knock has taken place at Knock Shrine, welcoming pilgrims from across Ireland and abroad to gather in prayer and reflection. This year’s theme, “Sheltered in God’s Love,” marks the 50th anniversary of the opening of Knock Basilica. For further information on each day’s programme: www.knockshrine.ie
  • Achonry & Elphin Diocesan Pilgrimage to Knock – The Achonry & Elphin Diocesan Pilgrimage to Knock Shrine takes place on Sunday, 16th August 2026. There will also be a Family Day on the same date offering various activities for families with children of all ages. The dioceses extend a special invitation to altar servers and their families to join the pilgrimage.
  • Retreats at Knock Shrine – Knock Shrine is now offering the opportunity for personal, self-directed retreat stays in the simple and peaceful surroundings of the Retreat Village.   • Dunmore Festival Bingo- Dunmore Community Council Festival Bingo will take place on Sunday, August 9th in the Town Hall, Dunmore at 3pm.  Lots of prizes on the day including a €500 jackpot.  Raffle for hampers, and lots more prizes.  Draw for a free double book, single book, lucky line sheet and jackpot sheet.  Complimentary tea, coffee and biscuits will be served at the interval all are welcome. 
  • Killyan Graveyard Mass Cleanup to prepare for annual Mass 30th & 31st July, 7th & 8th of August at 7pm. Please bring spades, sweepers and garden tools. We appreciate the communities help. Graveyard Mass will be on Sunday 16th August. NAC 50/50 will support Killyan Graveyard for July please support.
  • Fundraising Concert: Shear Country Concert in Aid of Cuan Mhuire Addiction Treatment Centre, Coolarne, Athenry.  Thursday 10th September at the Shearwater Hotel, Ballinasloe.  Staring Sabrina Fallon, The Fallon Family, Philomena Begley, Ray Lynam, Sandy Kelly, Trudi Lalor, Dee Morrrissey, Shane Moore, Derek Burke, Olivia Douglas and Johnny Carroll.
