- A Church Gate Collection in aid of the Assisted Pilgrim Section of the Achonry Elphin Diocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes will be taken up in your church on the 20th/21st June 2026. This year 35 Assisted Pilgrims from the Diocese will travel to Lourdes and all monies collected at church gates will be used to help defray the costs of this section of the Pilgrimage.
- The National Pilgrimage for Life, organised by the Council for Life of the Irish Catholic Bishops’ Conference, will be celebrated on Saturday 20th June at Knock Shrine. This national pilgrimage celebrates the gift of life and prays for the protection of all human life. Anointing of the Sick at 2.30pm; Mass at 3pm with celebrant and homilist Bishop Niall Coll, and rosary procession after Mass.
- Parish Pilgrimage – A Journey of Faith through the Ages Local historian, Paul Connolly, will lead a parish pilgrimage on Saturday, June 20th, starting at 2pm. The pilgrimage will take us from the Ballygar/Killeroran side of our parish, beginning outside Ballygar Church, the pilgrimage will include a journey to Tohergar Church and we will conclude in Newbridge. There will be a list placed at the back of all three churches over the coming weeks, if people are interested, please feel free to write your name on the list. This is necessary to get an idea of numbers for the bus. The meeting place will be outside Ballygar Church at 2pm. More details to follow in the coming weeks. - Achonry and Elphin Diocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes – takes place from 28th August to 2nd September 2026 inclusive, led by Bishop Kevin Doran. Assisted Pilgrimage Section: Those who travel as part of the Assisted Pilgrim Section will stay in Accueil Notre Dame, which is situated near the Grotto and Sanctuary area. They will be cared for by the Diocesan Pilgrimage Care Team whilst in Lourdes. Application forms for the Assisted Pilgrim Section and full details are available from Very Rev.
