Mattie McDonagh Centre
The Mattie McDonagh Centre is a community hall situated just off Market Square in Ballygar.
The centre was constructed with versatility in mind, and lends itself to a variety of functions:
Sports – including Handball, Indoor Soccer, Basketball, Badminton, Snooker.
Shows and Music – Musicals, Concerts, Dances, Discos, Bingo
Fully seated Dining
Meeting Rooms
Kitchen
Fully Equipped Gym
The community of Ballygar benefits greatly from this magnificent venue. During the school year it is used by both Ballygar National School and Coláiste Mhuire Secondary school for P.E. classes
The Mattie McDonagh Centre has an opportunity to show its fullest potential each August Bank Holiday Weekend for the Ballygar Carnival. Over the 6 days of the festival the centre hosts Dances, Discos, Sports, Stalls, Dog Show and, of course, a full house for Bingo. The fact that the venue can be quickly flipped to have it set up and ready for the different events, often within a short timeframe, is a credit to the management team.
The centre is named after the late, great Galway football icon and Ballygar native, Mattie McDonagh.
